A Boho Farm Wedding by Heart Stone Films

A Boho Farm Wedding by Heart Stone Films

He almost died, she refused to leave his side, he almost never walked again, but he stood waiting for his bride on their wedding day….

Let’s start with the basics. Danielle and Kyle had a seriously gorgeous boho themed wedding on Kyle’s family farm. If you have ever dream about a whimsical, romantic ceremony in the middle of the woods with rugs down the candle lined center aisle then this wedding was your dream come true.  The overcast sky, the hand made altar, and the custom wooden pews for the guests added to the incredible vibe during their ceremony. The wedding reception was equally as beautiful and stylish. Incredible wooden tables, boho centerpieces and name cards, a temporary tattoo teepee (yes you read that correctly) were just a few of the outstanding design elements on display. For real, this was without a doubt one of the coolest weddings we have filmed. Ceremony in the woods + Family Farm + Outdoor Reception + Teepees = A really ridiculously cool wedding.

But….. all of that really pales in comparison to Danielle and Kyle’s story. Friends, it’s a good one, a really good one. First, here is how we fit in to their story. 5 years ago, on the same family farm, we documented Kyle’s older brother and now sister in law’s wedding: Emily and Tyler (watch their surprise wedding film here) Emily and Tyler’s wedding is so special to us. It shares the gospel and the purpose of marriage so beautifully and that message has been watched hundreds of thousands of times. That means the world to us. In the process, we fell in love with the Johnson family. Four brothers with an incredible bond, two fantastic parents, and a family who loves Jesus with all their heart. Truly and inspiration and a model worth imitating. So for us, to be back at the same property, the same exact spot, five years later with this incredible family is a blessing beyond words. Now, the important part, Danielle and Kyle’s story.

They tell it much better than we ever could, so here it is….

“Danielle and I were introduced to each other after my best friend starting dating Danielle’s sister. I was your typical jock playing college football, so focused that having a girlfriend was not even on my mind. Danielle was the type that when she felt like getting some free meals she would say yes to the many guys asking her out on dates (she is just way better looking than me.) After some convincing from friends and family I decided to give her a call and see if she would let me take her out. Luckily, I was one the guys that just happened to call at the time Danielle was in the mood for a free meal from the hot guy from North Carolina. I drove 3 hours to Charleston, SC to take Danielle out on what she would now call a lame date. I disagree. Fast forward two years through some of the best times of my life and in May of 2017 I put a ring on it! But, this is where our story really begins. On Memorial Day, just two weeks after our engagement we went to the beach with some friends for the day. I wanted to surf a little bit, so I went into the water just like any other time. Danielle was on the shore watching me and hanging out playing cards with our friends. After being in the water for about twenty minutes I took off on a wave and after it I dove off of my board into the water and hit my head directly on the ocean floor. My body immediately tensed up and I couldn’t move. I was able to stay afloat as Danielle saw what happened and could tell by the look of my face that something bad had happened. I had a friend in the water with me that I was able to call over to help me get out. Danielle immediately told her friend to call 911 and I was brought to shore in the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Waiting on the EMS and beach rescue I was in and out of paralysis in my legs and was finally rushed to the hospital. After hours of MRI and CT scans we found out that I had broken my neck in my cervical spine. Late that night I went into surgery not knowing if I was going to wake up paralyzed or not. Danielle and our amazing family and friends covered us in prayer before surgery and I woke up with all the feeling in my legs. God literally preformed a miracle. The doctors have rarely seen an injury like mine not end in paralysis or death. Through my recovery, Danielle was a God send, an angel. She took care of me every single day. Helping me take my medicine, move from here to there, bathed me, fed me, she did it all. I couldn’t be more thankful for her and more importantly I cannot wait for her to be my wife and to get the chance to serve her, like she did for me, for the rest of our lives.”

Well, if you’re like us then you are either fighting tears or wiping them off your cheeks. What a couple and what an amazing story!
