On July 23rd 2011 she had no idea her life would change when he walked through the doors of the Longbranch in Raleigh. She was out with her friend, they were listening to the band, and people watching when this handsome man in a plaid button up shirt walked in the door. At the end of the night while heading for the door, he and his friends were standing at the bar while his friend was making a toast. She took this opportunity to butt in, asking why they were being so loud, and conversation struck up. They ended up realizing he had seen her the week before at a local Rugby match, but had assumed she was dating a player on another team so he didn’t go talk to her. As they walked to their cars that night, he got her number. They talked on the phone that night for hours, even though he had to be up for work at 7am, and spent more hours talking that week. She was about to get ready to leave for a trip to California, the the morning she left, he drove 45 minutes, just to say goodbye to her. They talked the whole time she was in California, and when she came home, they went on their first “real” date.
After only a few months, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, and had been talking about getting engaged for a while. They had gone shopping for an engagement ring, and had a really hard time finding exactly what they both loved. Finally they found 2 rings that they really liked, and she left it up to him to pick one of them! They already really considered themselves “engaged” but the night that the ring came in, he hid the ring under her pillow while she was letting their dogs out before bed. When she came upstairs and got in bed, she ended up sitting on the ring box, which she thought was her phone. That is until she realized her phone was in her hand. She pulled out the box, opened it, and asked “What is THIS!”? and he said the ring fairy had come! She asked him if there was something he was going to ask her, he asked, and of course she said yes.!
The Angus Barn was the perfect setting for their country/rustic theme. They loved all the wood and incorporated farm tables, bird cages, cotton, mason jars and cowboy boots worn by the girls.
