They met for the first time at a bowling alley, where they were introduced by a mutual friend. Neither of them spoke much to the other, and both thought that the other was not interested. But they met a few more times while hanging out with friends and actually talked to each other then. Eventually, they found themselves at a pub talking alone long after their friends had gone home. As they talked late into the evening, they realized that there was something between them. They left and as they reached the parking lot, Ben asked Jennifer on their first date.
On the day of the proposal, they relaxed on the Riverwalk, a tourist destination in San Antonio, Texas, where Ben was living and working. At first, trouble seemed to be brewing. Jennifer wanted to see a movie – Bad Teacher – and Ben discovered to his horror that is was not, in any way, a romantic film. Jennifer wasn’t enjoying the film either, though, and to Ben’s massive relief, they left about 45 minutes into the movie. They went to an Irish pub to talk and reminisce about their first date, when they also visited an Irish pub. They left the pub and walked along the river until they came to a scenic spot with an indoor bridge. When they stopped, they were approached by a caricature artist who offered to take their picture and then to draw their caricature. Jen was suspicious because he drew the caricature so quickly, and for good reason. Ben had hired the artist beforehand to stage a drawing. The artist had already prepared a drawing of Ben on one knee with a ring and Jennifer standing up saying “yes!” When he was done, Jennifer stood up to examine the drawing while Ben got on one knee behind her and lifted up the ring. Ben didn’t even have a chance to put the ring on her finger because she was so excited. As soon as Jennifer turned around, her face lit up and, before Ben could turn the box around, Jennifer had taken the ring and put it on her finger. It was definitely a “yes.” Ben was so happy that Jennifer enjoyed his method of proposing and even more happy that Jennifer loved the ring. The ring features the same stone used in Ben’s mom’s original engagement ring, so it has a special meaning to both of them.
“Wow! That is amazing. I don’t even think there are words to describe how much I love the video- it’s so stunning. I cannot wait to share it with everyone. Let me just say: thank you so much for creating such a beautiful video for us- it is the perfect way for us to remember our wedding day and we will cherish it forever.”…Jennifer, Bride
